Las Vegas trip

No pictures; but a great short trip to Las Vegas for our 41st anniversary. Weather was great and food was tasty. We received a great anniversary gift from an artist whose gallery we were walking through. He uses photography of many places we've been and we started talking to the owner about the pictures. He said anyone that was married as long as we are deserves a present so he gave us a copy of the artist's book. It's Spirit of America by Peter Lik. It has pictures from every state. Mother's Day May 10, 2009 - We decided to go see the Lava River Bed northwest of Flagstaff AZ. www.fs.fed.us/r3/coconino/recreation/peaks/lava Arizona Highways magazine May issue has a nice picture of the 30 foot high area of the cave www.arizonahighways.com along with directions. Driving there is mostly on dried up mud. From the parking lot we head out the short trail to the cave entrance which is marked by a circle of rocks. The descent is rugged and a bit steep. Carol goes down to the hanging ice using her flashlight to check each step as there is a lot of ice on the ground. Owen hangs behind. After checking out the 32 degree temperature and assessing our attire, we decide to come back another day with jeans and more than two flashlights - stay tuned!
